A titanic battle commenced between the Blade of Miquella and the Starscourge Radahn, during which Malenia unleashed the power of the Scarlet Rot. However, she came into conflict with General Radahn, her demigod half-brother, whose own goal was incompatible with Malenia's.
As numerous factions vied for power, Malenia sought to use her martial might to reunify the Lands Between and put an end to the chaos. While waiting for her brother to return, Malenia slaughtered scores of her enemy.Įventually, a massive civil war known as the Shattering erupted when the Elden Ring was shattered under mysterious circumstances. When Miquella refused Mohg, the Lord of Blood murdered him and resurrected him (causing Miquella to fall into a deep slumber). Malenia's twin brother was eventually stolen away by Mohg, Lord of Blood, who sought to forcefully marry Miquella so that he could install Miquella as Marika's replacement and therefore make himself King Consort/Elden Lord. Malenia was also born with a curse in the form of the "Scarlet Rot," a lethal blight that slowly degraded her body and infected anyone close to her.ĭespite the affliction that wracked her body, Malenia was never defeated in a duel and became renowned as one of the most skillful and powerful warriors in the Lands Between. Despite being beloved by many, Miquella suffered from a curse which halted his growth and stopped his body from progressing passed infancy. She and her twin brother Miquella were both selected as Empyreans, candidates to one day replace Queen Marika as ruler of the Lands Between. Malenia was one of the demigod children of Queen Marika the Eternal and her King Consort Radagon of the Golden Order. When harnessing the power of the rot, Malenia could produce a pair of large wings consisting of many butterflies hewn together by her own hair. She also had golden prosthetic limbs in place of her right arm, her left leg, and the bottom half of her right leg which were all missing. The rot infested Malenia's eyes, leaving her permanently blind. Her body was infected by the scarlet rot which caused cracks to appear on various parts of her body. Malenia was a tall, well-built yet fairly slender woman with free flowing long red hair that reached down her back.
